God likens discipleship to being a soldier (2 Timothy 2:3-4). Soldiers are trained (discipled) for war. They know their place of function, their level of authority, their weapons and how to use them. They know how to function as a fighting unit, depending upon each other. They trust their leaders to give them strategies for victory.
